Sonic Remedy returned to the Hertford Club to a fantastic crowd, including the always-appreciated sight of two Sonic Remedy t-shirts out in the wild. The room was packed with proper groovers and committed singers, creating a lively, engaged atmosphere from start to finish. The night saw the debut of Enter Sandman, which landed brilliantly and slotted straight into the set. Less successful (for the audience’s ears, at least) was Teenage Dirtbag, with no brave volunteers stepping up — sadly leaving high pitched vocal duties firmly in Bass Andy's wheelhouse. The band were otherwise tight throughout, delivering a confident and energetic performance. As ever, there were a few classic Remedy moments along the way: Andy Bass fielding unsolicited (and possibly unhelpful) advice from the crowd on his floating thumb technique, and the temporary disappearance of Andy Vocals during the Dani California instrumental.to the little boys room. Standard procedure. We love playing the Hertford Club — a great venue with a brilliant crowd — and it was exciting to see the proposed building works for such a beautiful old space. We’re already looking forward to the next one.
Sonic Remedy returned to the Drapers Arms in Stevenage on 7 February to a properly music-loving crowd who were clearly there for the songs as much as the pints. The atmosphere felt attentive and warm from the off, with the room leaning in and giving everything a proper listen rather than just treating the band as background noise. The set featured three new additions — Run To You (Bryan Adams), The Reason (Hoobastank) and Buck Rogers (Feeder) — all of which landed confidently and felt immediately at home in the set. The band were super tight throughout, with only a couple of minor stumbles during Hey Now by Crowded House reminding everyone that live music is, reassuringly, still live. Highlights offstage included one brave soul choosing a seat directly in front of the PA (thoughts and prayers), a momentary bass volume wobble thanks to an over-enthusiastic cable, and a snapped string — all handled without derailing what was another excellent night. A great venue, a great crowd, and always a pleasure to play at the Drapers Arms.
Sonic Remedy returned to the Lord Haig in Hertford on 10 January and were pleasantly surprised to find a cracking crowd ready to go, proving that ten days into January is more than enough time for people to remember they quite like beer, music, and leaving the house. The pub was buzzing early, with a warm, up-for-it atmosphere that felt far removed from the usual post-Christmas hibernation. The band were on formidable form, feeling super tight throughout the set and genuinely flirting with “best gig yet” territory. Teenage Dirtbag once again went full hero mode, complete with not one but two brave crowd volunteers stepping up for vocal duties. Offstage banter also reached new levels, with Bass Andy earning a pointed onstage warning from Kieran that he “hoped his wife wasn’t in the crowd” following some particularly enthusiastic song introductions. A great night all round — great pub, great crowd, and further confirmation that Sonic Remedy and the Lord Haig are a very happy match indeed.
